1. Safety during COVID-19
Less exposure to others given our low patient volume and small staff. You will find a less crowded or empty waiting room and less waiting in the office. We also offer teledermatology so you can see Dr. Ort via video chat from the safety of your home.
2. Individualized Care
Your medical care should be determined by you and your doctor, not by insurance companies or the government. Take bureaucrats and non-medical personnel out of the exam room.
3. More Time with your Preferred Doctor
Narrow insurance networks may restrict which doctor you can see or may force you to see a non-physician. Under direct pay, you are free to see the doctor that you want to see. You determine how much time you would like to spend with your doctor. Your visit should not feel like it is part of a factory assembly line.
4. Medical Care Simplified
Consider the following…fewer forms and less paperwork. No need to get referrals to see a specialist. Fewer or no insurance authorizations. No need to wait months for an appointment.
5. No Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Many doctors feel that EMR detracts from patient care. The doctor may pay more attention to the computer than the person sitting on the exam table. We have the freedom to choose not to use EMR. Your medical records are stored neither on our server nor in the cloud.
6. Price Transparency
You will always know up front what your visit will cost. Our prices are available in print and online. There are no surprise or hidden bills after the fact. You will receive no bills in the mail.
7. Better Value
By not taking insurance, we reduce our administrative burdens and keep our costs low. Our fees are reasonable and straightforward. Our goal is to provide the best value to our patients. If you have no insurance, or a high copay or deductible, you will likely find that costs are lower, oftentimes much lower, in a direct pay practice.
8. Enhanced Patient Privacy
Almost every day we hear about a security breach. In our practice, neither the government nor insurance companies have access to your medical or billing records. Keep your private information secure in your doctor’s office and out of the hands of third parties or hackers.
9. Caring Staff
In an insurance-based practice, the staff is often over-burdened, burned out, and rude. Our staff is committed to serving your needs in a professional, compassionate, and timely manner.
10. After-Hours Access to your Doctor
Most of the time, Dr. Richard Ort will be personally available to assist you in the unlikely event that you have an urgent dermatology problem after normal business hours or on weekends.
