Dr. Richard Ort is the founder and medical director of Dermatology and Laser Institute of Colorado, PC. Dr. Ort specializes in the evaluation and treatment of conditions involving the skin. As volunteer faculty, Dr. Ort taught surgical skills to dermatology residents at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center for nearly 20 years. He has advanced skills in the treatment of skin cancer and teaches at the annual American Society for Mohs Surgery meeting. Dr. Ort served a one-year term as President of the Colorado Dermatologic Society.

Dr. Ort is on the medical staff at Sky Ridge Medical Center and serves as a clinical instructor to intern physicians from Sky Ridge. He has served as a clinical preceptor for hundreds of medical students throughout his career. Dr. Ort works with the Center for Personalized Education for Physicians (CPEP) to assess the performance and knowledge base of other doctors. He has served as an expert witness in medicolegal cases involving medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Dr. Ort completed a year-long fellowship with world-renowned laser surgeons at Harvard University. He is is an expert on laser treatment of the skin, including treatment of birthmarks, port wine stains, Nevus of Ota, veins, wrinkles, pigmentation, tattoos, scars, and hair removal. He uses over ten cutting-edge lasers in his practice on a daily basis. He is recognized by his peers as a leader in laser surgery.

Dr. Ort believes strongly in the use of dermoscopy, an advanced technique to evaluate moles and help detect skin cancer. Dr. Ort incorporates dermoscopy into every skin examination. Dr. Ort’s artistic skills are demonstrated in his advanced use of injectables such as Botox and fillers. Dr. Ort is an expert in the use of Botox to achieve beautiful yet natural results. His many grateful patients attest to his mastery of fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, Lyft, Radiesse, and Sculptra.
